Hi friends,
Welcome to About That Life, a newsletter about food, music, and the outdoors. Each week you'll get two posts that you may use to brighten up your day.
Salmon, the thought of it, turns the Christmas lights on inside. Like a stream, my mouth springs with endless water. The creamy buttery texture with every bite awakes my tastebuds. No longer in charge, I sit in awe, as they dance in celebration of a jaw-dropping meal.
I’d have no problem eating fish every blessed day. Steamed, jerked, fried…you name it, I like it. So here’s the best salmon recipe you’ll find this week.
Ingredients
Salmon
Salt
Garlic Parsely dry seasoning
Black Pepper
Cayenne Powder
Oil (I use coconut oil)
Butter (optional)
Thyme
How to cook Salmon
Season 1/2 lb of salmon with about 1 tsp of salt, followed by a pinch of black pepper and cayenne, and 1 tbsp of garlic parsley.
You may allow it to sit for 10 minutes or rest in the refrigerator for a few hours.
Heat a pan on medium and add 2 tbsp of oil. If your salmon has skin, lay it skin-down in the pan. Add a few stalks of thyme. Cook for 3 minutes (add 1 tsp of butter) and then flip to the other side for another 3 minutes.
Finish by flipping on the skin once more, and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. You may also brown the edges for 30 seconds. I like doing that to seal in flavors.
That’s it, a happy meal in 10 minutes. Peer it with your favorite sides and a burst of lemon if you wish.
Salmon is one of my go-to dishes for something fast and tasty. I also have salmon oven recipes that I’ll share later on. What’s your favorite way to have salmon?
